The Basics of Magnified Scopes

Scopes scopes scopes. Let me tell you everything I currently know about scopes. Everyone thinks scopes are easy, slap a $100 barska scope on your rifle and hit targets at 800 yards with ease….man i wish it was that simple. Scopes are complicated, there is so much to think about when picking one out. So I'm going to hurt your brain right now and try to help you understand the confusing world of magnified optics. This is just what i know, because there is a lot i still don’t fully get myself.  So what is a scope? It is an aiming device used to magnify the target. In idiot terms, it makes a far away target big again. There are many types of scope out there that can see many different distances. Let's talk about the 2 main types of scope. Fixed scopes and variable scopes. Fixed scope has 1 magnified option. While a variable optics will have low magnification to high magnification. An easy way know if a scope is fixed or variable is by looking at the magnification numbers.  ...

Concealed Carry Holsters.

CCW holsters. What I recommend and what I don’t recommend. I’ve been carrying a CCW since late 2019. I’ve carried 5 different types of handguns. Full size, compacts, sub compacts and micro compacts. So let's talk about it.  Fuck man, where to start. Buying a holster can be complicated. So many different things to think about like the following:  What kind of gun do you have? Where are you going to carry it? What kind of clothes do you wear? What kind of holster are you going to have? How long do you plan on wearing it per day? What size person are you?  All these things matter!!!  1st point, What kind of gun do you have? This one is pretty obvious. If you carry a big gun, you’ll need to have a big holster. How do you choose what gun to carry? Honestly find something you can comfortably shoot, then find a way to comfortably carry it. I can’t hold your hand the entire way, absorb what I say and make your decision based on that.  2nd point. Where to carry ...

Myth! .22 LR can go over 1 Mile

Everyone has heard it, We’ve all seen it on the back of the box. Claims of .22LR traveling over 1 mile away. Let's talk more about this.  Short answer, can a .22LR travel over a mile? Yes it can. HOWEVER you really really need to put some fucking effort into that shot. A simple look at a bullet drop calculator will show what it takes to make the mile long 22lr shot.  Some quick things to talk about before we pretend to be physicists.   -1 yard is 3 feet       1 mile is 5280 feet    1760 yards is 1 mile -For this test I'm mainly going to be talking about elevation (up and down) . I may touch on the windage ( left and right) a tiny bit at the end.  -Another thing to keep in mind, Energy in Foot-pounds. There is no clear answer (that i can find) on what the minimum amount to fatally injure a human is. Its somewhere between 50-100 ft-Lbs The Type of .22 i’m using for this test is CCI Mini-mag 40g @ 1235 FPS  Range (yrd) ...
